Artist Statement
My work
emanates from an enjoyment of the outdoors. My
intention while painting is to invoke that same
feeling of place and atmosphere within the viewer.
To my way of thinking, painting en plein aire
is the epitome of what an artist should be.
This viewpoint began with my childhood
memories of my great uncle, New England
Artist, Bernard Corey, at work during family
get-togethers. As I began to study the artists
of the New Hope and Cape Ann Schools, Edward
Redfield and Anthony Theme respectively,
served as both mentors emeritus and
inspiration as plein air masters.
