Painting from life means painting the
model, still-life, or nature from direct observation. No doubt, there is
great importance to be placed on working from life, either outdoors or in
the studio. An artist can only benefit from this kind of directness in
study. I think one of the greater questions an artist can reflect on is "How
do I continue to grow as an artist?" I think every artist is challenged when
painting en plein aire, and our skills are greatly strengthened and
refined for it.
We will handle all aspects of
painting in the great outdoors including proper preparation, setup and
selection of scene, working with the changing elements and so on. A
demonstration will emphasize that a solid painting starts with a solid
foundation of which design, use of light and dark patterns, are key.
Establishing values and accurate color, what to leave in/out are some of the
tools that will be used as I give individual attention to each student.
Beginners through
advanced are always welcome.
